DARCARS Toyota of Frederick

Dec 30, 2021

For more than a decade, the Toyota 4Runner has been a mainstay in the SUV class. It hasn’t had to change much because drivers love both the style and functionality of the off-road vehicle. However, some minor tweaks to the 2021 Toyota 4Runner have been improved on this already-fantastic SUV.

Basics About the 2021 Toyota 4Runner

Significantly few mid-size SUVs have gained the popularity of the 4Runner, and the 2021 model is no exception, especially the new Trail Special Edition model. You’ll enjoy riding in relative luxury when you’re out exploring the backroads and scaling mountainous terrain.

The 4Runner is well-known for its boxy exterior, but this is also precisely why it’s gained such a loyal following. The rugged look of the vehicle, combined with its four-wheel-drive capabilities, makes it a top choice of adventurous drivers.

Pricing

With seven models of the 2021 4Runner to choose from, it’s a versatile option for most budgets. The SR5 is the base model, which starts at $37,265. The new Trail Special Edition begins at $39,240, the TRD Off-Road comes in at $41,230, the Venture is $45,154, the Limited starts at $45,670, the Nightshade model starts at $47.085, and the TRD Pro has a starting price of $51,745. There will only be 4,000 units of the Trail Special Edition manufactured.

New and Unique Features

While not much has changed on this SUV, some enhancements for 2021 that drivers will love. First, the Trail Special Edition comes standard with 17-inch TRD wheels, which are dark gray with black exterior badges. Its all-black interior with tan stitching makes it look and feel more luxurious than other 4Runner models. All-weather floor mats mean you won’t have to worry about mud and debris ruining your vehicle’s carpet after a long day of four-wheeling fun.

All 4Runner models now come standard with exterior LED lighting for low-beam headlights and fog lights, thereby increasing the driver’s field of vision at night. The dimness of the headlights was one of the few complaints drivers have had concerning previous 4Runner models, but now that’s been corrected. Now you can go off-roading even on the darkest of nights. The TRD Pro model adds LED high-beam headlights to the equation, making this off-road-ready model a potential game-changer.

New Color

This year, a new exterior color for the 4Runner is Lunar Rock, the replacement color for the Army Green of 2020. This greenish-blue color is exclusive to the TRD Pro model, and the Army Green color is still available, but only on the cheaper TRD Off-Road model. Either color will look fantastic whether you’re careening over off-road trails or cruising down a paved highway.
