New Toyota SUVs in Frederick

Many drivers prefer an SUV because it typically has more space than a sedan. Toyota has eight affordable, reliable, powerful and capable SUVs to choose from, so we're sure you'll be able to find something that meets all of the items on your wish list. While most of our SUVs/crossovers have similar features, each model is different in its own right. They all boast advanced technology and come in a variety of trim levels designed to meet the needs of every type of driver.

Toyota has smaller SUVs if you're looking for something to haul sport or music gear around in. There are also bigger, more powerful options like the 4Runner, Sequoia, and Land Cruiser. If you're looking for something environmentally friendly, we have two models to choose from.

Meet Toyota's Dynamic Lineup of SUVs/Crossovers

The Toyota C-HR is one of the brand's newest SUV's. Introduced in 2017, it is the smallest SUV crossover in Toyota's lineup, behind the RAV4. It comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense-P, a display screen on the dashboard, and keyless entry and start. The C-HR also has 60/40 split-folding rear seats. It's small, but it still has plenty of storage options.

The Toyota RAV4 debuted in the mid-1990s and is one of the brand's original car-based small SUVs, according to Motortrend. The RAV4 got a complete redesign for the 2013 model year. It features a six-speed automatic transmission and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It has a better fuel economy and more passenger and cargo space than ever before. Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville and Washington D.C. drivers will also appreciate the more modern exterior and drastically improved interior cabin. In short, the RAV4 is Toyota's second-most affordable option behind the C-HR.

The Toyota Highlander is more spacious than the RAV4 or C-HR. The three-row SUV has countless storage options, including one of our favorite features, a large in-dash shelf for drinks, food, sunglasses, or any other items. This large crossover is an excellent option if you want a lot of space, but don't want something as big as a minivan. The Highlander packs a bit of a punch with its eight-speed automatic transmission and V6 engine. It can seat up to eight and comes equipped with a full suite of active safety programs.

The Toyota 4Runner is one of the automaker's longest running, midsize body-on-frame SUVs in its arsenal. In 2014, the 4Runner got a much-needed makeover. The exterior and interior became more sleek and modern, and the engine is quieter, too. The 4Runner is a great family car, and because it's so quiet, an excellent choice to take on a road trip. It now also comes in a TRD Off-Road Premium trim. This means it will come equipped with TRD Pro Bilstein shocks with TRD-tuned front springs, locking rear differential, all-terrain tires and four-wheel drive with A-TRC.

The Toyota Sequoia is an excellent family vehicle that also comes with a powerful V8 engine. It's a Toyota SUV that truly combines space, safety, and power. If you're looking for something that will last for years to come, that also packs a punch; the Sequoia is the car for you. Beginning in the 2013 model year, the 5.7-liter V8 engine became the only option for Sequoia drivers. 2013 also saw the introduction of a double wishbone rear suspension with coil springs, a locking center differential on four-wheel-drive options, and an available air suspension to raise or lower the car. In 2016, Toyota updated the Sequoia with a newer version of its Entune infotainment system as well as a blind spot warning device.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is the automaker's top-tier SUV. It seats up to eight people and comes equipped with a four-wheel drive system and a large towing capacity. Unlike Toyota's other SUVs, the Land Cruiser was originally a military vehicle. According to Motortrend, it was Japan's solution to the Willys MB. It was utilized in some campaigns during the Cold War, and its first tour of duty was with the Korean War.

The Land Cruiser was introduced to civilians in the mid-1950s. The current version comes equipped with a V8 engine, and it also has excellent off-roading abilities. CRAWL Control, and a locking center limited-slip differential makes all the difference. Besides coming standard with Toyota Safety Sense-P, it also boasts an Entune infotainment system, large touchscreen display, and 14-speaker JBL audio system.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid was the first vehicle in its class to adopt a hybrid drivetrain, according to Motortend. The RAV4 EV was originally introduced in 1998. The second generation came out in 2012, and the current generation of RAV4 EV's came on the scene in 2016. It uses the Camry's 2.5-liter Hybrid Synergy Drive in the front and electric motor driving in the back. It's incredible in that it has no mechanical connection from the front to the rear.

The Toyota Highlander Hybrid first appeared on American roads in 2005. The latest generation boasts a 3.5-liter V6 engine with an electric motor. It has a lot of power for a hybrid and is one of the only three-row eco-friendly options on the blacktop. Not to mention, it's also outfitted with luxury and quite an affordable option for a hybrid.

SUVs that come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense-P, or that have the available feature, will boast an in-vehicle camera and front-grille-mounted, millimeter-wave radar, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian and Vehicle Detection. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist is also part of the suite along with automatic high beams and dynamic radar cruise control.
