At the base SR level, you'll find exterior features such as 16-inch steel wheels with a color-keyed rear bumper. Upgrade to the SR5, and you'll find a charcoal grille with chrome surrounds and heated power side mirrors. With the TRD Sport trim, drivers gain 17-inch alloy wheels in addition to LED daytime running lights. The TRD Off-Road is mainly optimized for performance and comes with a chrome rear bumper, color-keyed door handles, and black fender flares. Opt for the Limited to enjoy a power-slide moonroof, LED headlights, and 18-inch dark smoke wheels with the Nightshade Special Edition Package. Finally, the TRD Pro boasts Goodyear Kevlar all-terrain tires and rigid industry LED fog lights.
Engine (Power)
You can choose between two significantly different engines when you opt for the new Tacoma. The standard engine is a four-cylinder that offers 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. If that's not enough, you can upgrade to the V-6, which boosts horsepower to 278 and torque to 265 pound-feet. Either engine can pair with a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.
Performance
Performance in a truck is largely a matter of capability. With the Tacoma, you'll have plenty at your fingertips, including a maximum towing capacity of 6,800 pounds. Off-road features are also available, with the Multi-Terrain Select system letting you choose between different environments to optimize performance on the fly. Additionally, this truck can be equipped with Crawl Control, which modulates throttle and braking on low-speed settings when navigating difficult terrain.
Interior
Toyota sought to merge ruggedness and refinement with its interior design, offering the best of both worlds. The available 10-way power-adjustable seat includes two-way lumbar support, and you can opt for dual-zone automatic climate control for maximum comfort. Plus, it's easy to keep your devices charged, thanks to the two USB charge ports.
Connect to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto to access apps, music, and more through the available 8-inch multimedia screen. Upgrade to a six-speaker JBL audio system to enjoy concert-quality sound.
Safety Features
The Tacoma shines when it comes to safety features, as it boasts more standard driver assistance technology than any other truck in its class. Forward collision warning with automated emergency braking is standard, as are lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. You'll also find a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert available in addition to rear parking sonar to make backing up easier than ever. Of course, it works alongside a backup camera, which comes standard on the Tacoma.
