2023 Toyota Sequoia
The Toyota Sequoia is a large three-row SUV. It's built on the same platform as the Toyota Tundra and, for 2023, receives some significant updates. It now comes standard with Toyota's MAX hybrid powertrain, has a completely updated interior, and boasts new technology features. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Sequoia comes in five trim levels: the SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, and Capstone. The SR5 has 18-inch alloy wheels, a black horizontal-bar grille with a chrome surround, heated and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors, and an i-FORCE MAX hood badge. The Limited adds 20-inch dark gray alloy wheels and a gray-metallic bar grille. Step up to the Platinum for LED headlights, LED taillights, and the option to add power-deployable running boards. The TRD Pro has off-road extras, such as skid plates and a tow hook, and the Capstone adds chrome exterior trim elements.
Engine (Power)
There's a new powertrain propelling the updated Sequoia. The i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain includes a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 with an electric motor generator and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Together, these components work to generate 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, but all-wheel drive is optional for any trim.
Performance
Another update for the 2023 Sequoia's engine is its new driving modes. Drivers can choose from Eco, Normal, and Sport with the standard suspension, while upgrading the suspension adds Comfort and Sport S+. When equipped properly, this SUV can tow up to 9,000 pounds. If you do any off-road driving, the TRD Pro has downhill assist to help control the rate the Sequoia descends when going downhill, and it has a crawl control system that works like cruise control to help navigate off-road trails.
Interior
The 2023 Sequoia's cabin has some significant improvements over prior years. Heated front seats come standard, along with cloth upholstery. The Limited has heated and ventilated front seats, a power-folding third row, and a heated steering wheel. Step up to the Platinum for heated and ventilated second-row seats or to the new Capstone for high-end leather upholstery and walnut cabin trim elements.
The technology features in the Sequoia start with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and the option for a 14-inch touchscreen. A 14-speaker JBL stereo is also available, along with wireless charging stations for mobile phones and Toyota's Drive Connect system. This cloud-based navigation system and intelligent assistant can help you find any destination.
Safety Features
The latest Sequoia comes with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5. This group of driver aids includes a forward collision warning system, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam assist. It also comes with lane-tracing assist, lane-departure warning, steering assist, and a road-sign recognition system. The Platinum adds a head-up display and rain-sensing windshield wipers. A blind-spot monitor is another standard safety feature, along with rear cross-traffic alert and parking assist with automatic braking.
