The Toyota Camry continues to please drivers who prefer a sedan over a crossover SUV. It's reliable, fuel-efficient, and comes well-equipped with standard features and technology. For the 2023 model year, the Nightshade Package receives some updates. It now has black headlights, taillight trim, and matte bronze 19-inch wheels. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Camry is the LE. It comes with 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, LED taillights, power-adjustable side mirrors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The SE adds 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, a black mesh grille, and color-keyed rocker panels, while the SE Nightshade has 19-inch bronze-painted wheels, black exterior trim elements, and a trunk-mounted spoiler. Step up to the XLE for 18-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, and full LED headlights, or to the XSE for 19-inch gloss-black wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, and dual exhaust. The Camry TRD has unique 18-inch wheels, aerodynamic body trim, a sport exhaust, and black-painted side mirrors.
Engine (Power)
The base engine for the Camry is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that develops 202 horsepower. A 3.5-liter V-6 comes under the hood of the XLE and XSE, churning out 301 horsepower. The four-cylinder offers all-wheel drive as an option, and front-wheel drive comes standard with all models.
Performance
The base engine has plenty of muscle for propelling the Camry around town and for passing on the highway. The larger V-6 provides an even more satisfying driving experience, especially if you have the TRD with its lowered suspension and firmer ride.
Interior
Inside, there's room for five in the Camry. It comes well-equipped with standard features such as a power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and cloth upholstery. The SE adds simulated leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the XLE comes with genuine leather, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and heated front seats. You'll find lots of tech features in the 2023 Camry. A 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with Amazon Alexa and satellite radio. A Wi-Fi hotspot is available, and you can also get wireless charging. The XLE and XSE upgrade to a 9-inch touch screen and add a 7-inch multi-information display in front of the driver. These trims also make wireless charging standard.
Safety Features
All the 2023 Camry models come with a long list of safety driver aids as part of Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. These include forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. A road sign recognition is also standard. It will detect certain highway signs and alert the driver. Other TSS 2.5+ features include a lane-tracing assist system that works with the adaptive cruise control and a rear-seat reminder that reminds the driver to check their back seat for kids and pets. Full-speed adaptive cruise control comes with the XLE and above, and these also have a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert.
