Trim Levels (Exterior)
Toyota will offer the bZ4X in two trim levels: the entry-level XLE and the Limited. Both will have 20-inch wheels and a crossover exterior design with bold fender flares, thin taillights that stretch across the back of the vehicle, and sleek headlights. Toyota will manufacture it on their new e-TNGA platform, which they developed with Subaru as a dedicated electric vehicle platform. The bZ4X has 8.3 inches of ground clearance and a wheelbase that's just over 6 inches longer than the RAV4, so it can accommodate the battery pack.
Engine (Power)
Power for the bZ4X will come from a single electric motor that produces 201 horsepower and sends power to the front wheels. An all-wheel-drive version with two smaller electric motors is also available and gets you 214 horsepower. The level 2 charging feature allows you to charge the bZ4X right at home using a 240-watt outlet.
Performance
The all-wheel-drive version of the bZ4X will accelerate to 60 mph in just 7.7 seconds. Toyota placed the battery low in the chassis to give it a low center of gravity and provide a stable feel on the road and when taking tight corners.
Its 64 kWh battery pack will help it achieve up to 250 miles of range on a full charge, with the all-wheel-drive models providing a slightly lower range. The bZ4X will come standard with fast charging, and it will also have integrated solar panels to capture enough energy to power the vehicle for up to 1,000 miles per year.
Whether it’s using a Level 1 charger and charging up in about 50 hours, gaining a full charge in around 9.5 hours with Level 2 charging, or quickly charging your EV in 30 minutes to 60 minutes with Level 3 DC Fast Charging, you have 3 different ways to charge your Toyota bZ4X. Level 3 chargers are presently offered at public charging stations, but you can get a Level 2 charger installed by a professional electrician, or use a 3-prong outlet at home for Level 1 charging.
Interior
The inside of the bZ4X will have a modern, futuristic design with a large digital gauge display in front of the driver and a large 12.3-inch multimedia infotainment screen in the middle of the dashboard. The center touch screen comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Toyota's latest-generation infotainment system. Wireless charging will also be available, along with a Wi-Fi hot spot, and it will come standard with five USB ports.
Safety Features
Both bZ4X models will come standard with the latest version of Toyota Safety Sense. The TSS 3.0 has all the safety features from the last generation and adds enhanced capabilities. You can expect to have peace of mind on the road with features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and lane-keep assist.
The upgraded system has improved daytime and low light detection of motorcycles and bicycles, and it now comes with guardrail detection. The improved adaptive cruise control system in the 3.0 version has curve speed management and will help you make left turns at intersections.
