Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Toyota Sequoia is a large SUV sold in six trim levels: the SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, Nightshade Special Edition, TRD Pro, and Platinum. Standard exterior features on the base SR5 include 18-inch wheels, a sunroof, heated side mirrors, and LED headlights and fog lights. The TRD Sport tacks on a few exterior trim and suspension upgrades, including black accents, anti-roll bars, 20-inch specialty wheels, and sport-tuned Bilstein dampers. The TRD Pro model is even more capable with skid plates, upgraded fog lights, 18-inch BBS wheels, running boards, and Fox shocks.
Choose the premium Limited trim to get a set of 20-inch wheels and chrome exterior trim elements. The Nightshade Special Edition has black trim and dark chrome accents, while the Platinum trim boasts power-folding side mirrors and an adaptive air suspension with electronic shock absorbers.

Engine (Power)
Across the board, all 2022 Sequoia models come equipped with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine that produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. The unit pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels on most trim levels. The TRD Pro and Platinum trims come standard with Toyota's four-wheel-drive system, while the other four trims offer this system as an upgrade.
Performance
Between the six trim levels, there's a Sequoia to accommodate any lifestyle and need. When properly equipped, this truck-based SUV can tow up to 7,400 pounds. The TRD trim levels boast off-roading features that make it easier to tackle uncharted territory. If you're looking for a family vehicle, the eight-person seating capacity and large cargo area will accommodate. Acceleration is strong and solid, while the brake pedal is easy to use in all driving conditions.
Interior
The cabin is one of the roomier options in the segment, offering plenty of legroom in all three rows of seating and interior cubby storage for rear passengers. Standard cabin features include tri-zone automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, a power driver's seat, and an eight-speaker audio system with a 7-inch touch screen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. An optional package bundles heated front seats, power-folding third-row seats, and leather upholstery.

With the upscale Limited trim, you get the features of the optional Premium package, along with integrated navigation and a 12-speaker audio system. Safety Features
Every 2022 Sequoia comes with Toyota Safety Sense P, a suite of active driver aids designed to protect those in the vehicle and around it on the road. This package bundles a pre-collision system with automatic braking, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, dynamic radar cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. For safe towing, the Sequoia also includes trailer sway control.
