Trim Levels (Exterior)
Toyota brought the GR Supra back into its lineup in 2020 and continued to improve upon the offering in 2021. The 2022 Toyota GR Supra comes in four trim levels: 2.0, 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and A91-CF Edition. From the outside, this model shows off aggressive styling with a long hood and bold wheels. Exterior equipment on the base 2.0 model includes glossy-black heated and power-folding side mirrors with auto-dimming functionality on the driver's side, 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels, auto-leveling LED headlights, aerodynamic underbody panels, and dual rear exhaust outlets. Both the 3.0 and 3.0 Premium trims tack on an upgraded rear exhaust, memory functionality for the side mirrors, and larger 19-inch twin-spoke wheels with a dual-tone finish. With the top A91-CF Edition, additional features include matte-black wheels and carbon fiber accents with a matching rear spoiler. According to Toyota, only 600 units will be produced of this limited-run vehicle.
Engine (Power)
The base trim level of the 2022 GR Supra includes a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. With the upper three trim levels, a more powerful 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 engine comes standard. This unit pumps out 295 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Toyota may offer a manual transmission later in the model year.
Performance
In speed testing, the V-6 GR Supra jumped from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds, which puts it in line with some of the top-rated muscle and performance cars in the segment. Even with the base engine, it went from zero to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds. In addition to its quick acceleration, this coupe boasts precise handling and accurate steering in all driving conditions.
Interior
The cabin of the GR Supra focuses on the needs and comfort of the driver. The cockpit features an accessible dashboard with controls that make it easy to stay connected to the vehicle. Standard interior features include carbon fiber trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and leather upholstery. The base model also comes with a four-speaker audio system with an 8.8-inch touch screen and satellite radio. Stepping up to the 3.0 trim adds heated and power-adjustable front seats with driver's seat memory settings. The top two trims have upgraded sport seats, red accents on the steering wheel, sport pedals, a premium 12-speaker JBL sound system with wireless Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and wireless device charging.
Safety Features
Every GR Supra includes anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, a rearview camera, tire pressure monitoring, and air bags throughout the cabin. Additional active aids that come standard on all four trim levels include a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning with steering assist.
