2022 Toyota Camry
One of the longest-standing models in the Toyota lineup is the Camry and for good reason. This capable sedan leads the midsize segment and boasts an impressive list of features across every trim level.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Toyota Camry comes in six trim levels: LE, SE, SE Nightshade, XLE, XSE, and TRD. The base model comes with LED daytime running lights and taillights, automatic bi-LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a bold dark gray front grille. If you want a sportier ride, opt for the SE model to get larger 18-inch wheels and sharp accents. The SE Nightshade Edition includes black trim elements, distinctive black 18-inch wheels, and a black rear spoiler.
Choose the XLE, and your Camry will come with side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, locking and unlocking door handle-mounted touch sensors, dark gray wheels, and upgraded LED headlights. The XSE comes with a glossy-black front grille, larger wheels, and dual exhaust, while the top TRD model adds a sport exhaust, black-painted trim and side mirrors, and a few aerodynamic accents.
Power (Engine)
With most trim levels, the 2022 Camry gets its power from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It puts out 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The XSE trim has a specially tuned version of the same engine that produces 206 horsepower. If you want more power, a 3.5-liter V-6 engine comes standard on the TRD trim and optional on the other trims. This unit produces 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose a hybrid powertrain.
Performance
Depending on which powertrain you choose, you'll get a Camry that delivers impressive fuel efficiency or one that boasts quick acceleration and raw power. Regardless of the model you opt for, your ride will provide crisp handling and precise steering. The top TRD trim is the most well-equipped for enhanced driving performance, thanks to the standard V-6 engine and sport-tuned suspension.
Interior
In the base model's cabin, you'll find dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. This model also comes with a six-speaker sound system, a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and satellite radio. Both the SE and SE Nightshade Edition tack on a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters and leather upholstery.
The XLE's upgraded interior features include heated front seats, a 9-inch touch screen, an upgraded climate system with rear air vents, leather upholstery, wireless device charging, and a power-adjustable passenger seat. The XSE has metallic trim, while the TRD trim features red accents.
Safety Features
All trim levels of the 2022 Camry boast anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, air bags for both rows of seating, and a rearview camera. Toyota also comes with Safety Sense 2.0, a package of safety features that includes road sign detection, automatic high beams, forward collision mitigation, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. You can add the Driver Assist package to get a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, and rear automatic braking.
