Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are six trim levels available for the 2021 Toyota Sequoia: SR5, Nightshade Special Edition, TRD Pro, TRD Sport, Limited, and Platinum. The base model, SR5, is a great-looking car with a sunroof, LED fog lights and headlamps, and 18-inch wheels. The TRD Sport has a better appearance due to its sport-tuned Bilstein dampers, black exterior trim, badges, and roof racks, stiffer antiroll bars, and 20-inch TRD Sport wheels. The TRD Pro comes with Rigid Industries LED fog lights, fox shocks, 18-inch BBS wheels, a power liftgate, Toyota logo grille, black aluminum running boards, and skid plates. The Limited trim is built for comfort and features 20-inch wheels and a chrome exterior trim. The Nightshade Special Edition is also new for the 2021 model year and is distinguished by black 20-inch wheels, dark chrome, and black exterior trim. At the top of the tier is the Platinum trim which has automatic high beams.
Engine (Power)
The sole engine for the 2021 Sequoia is a 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8 that generates up to 401 pound-feet of torque. The engine features variable valve timing and pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission. The presence of a dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) ensures that the vehicle performs excellently at high speeds.
Performance
The 2021 Sequoia accelerates well around town and its gas pedal is responsive enough to ensure highway passing or merging. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the bottom four trims, while four-wheel drive is an available option; it is standard on the TRD Pro and Platinum. The transmission is smooth and its Toyota steering is light and easy to control in corners and tight spaces. The Sequoia has responsive brakes that allow drivers to cruise comfortably and the TRD Pro trim has useful off-road capabilities due to its beefy shock absorbers, lifted suspension, and meaty tires mounted on exclusive wheels. It is easier to haul a lot of utilities for an outdoor trip as the car has a towing capacity of up to 7,400 pounds.
Interior
There is loads of space within the new Sequoia with sufficient legroom for adults in the car's three rows. The car also hosts a roomy cargo trunk that can be extended by stowing the third-row seats. Sufficient cubby storage has also been intuitively incorporated within the cabin. For infotainment, a standard 7.0-inch touch screen displays the options available, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. The car also features a Wi-Fi hotspot, a rear-seat entertainment system, and an upgraded JBL audio system.
Safety Features
The 2021 Sequoia is packed with the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of driver-assistance and standard safety features. Safety features include standard adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking.
